The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, will provide immediate relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prevent for and respond to life-threatening emergencies.
Description:
The American Red Cross helps meet the greatest needs in the community as a primary partner in disaster response. Whether a disaster affects thousands of families during a flood, or one family who lose their home after a fire, the Red Cross is there. Our Disaster Action Teams (DATs) provide emergency assistance 24 x 7 to help clients find a safe place to live, replace food, clothing, bedding and emergency medications, and plan for recovery. We also provide First Aid/CPR/AED training, teach people to swim and become lifeguards, and train professional babysitters. Services to the Armed Forces (SAF) provides emergency communications link between families and military service members deployed anywhere in the world, as well as other family support services.
History:
American Red Cross El Paso was founded on October 10, 1911, in response to the Mexican Revolution. It has responded to thousands of local disasters over the years, including the historic 2005 hurricane season, Storm 2006 and Deep Freeze 2011.
