Our goal is to provide a public facility which can be used by the youth and adults of the Dalton/Whitfield County area for quality educational and recreation programs; where participation, instruction, and sportsmanship are all achieved in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Description:
The Dalton Community Center is a City of Dalton facility located on the corner Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Fredrick Street. A new, 50,000-square-foot, state-of-the art facility is scheduled to be opened in October of 2011 complete with two full-size basketball courts, an indoor walking track, weight room, aerobic room, computer lab, splash-pad, artificial turf field, playground, and outdoor basketball court. During renovations, all programs will be held at 904 Civic Drive at the John Davis facility.

History:
The Dalton Community Center was established in 1954 by a group of concerned citizens seeking recreational activity for the youth of the community. The old Dalton Community Center was built in 1966, and two years later became a part of Dalton Parks and Recreation. In 2009, that building was demolished to make way for the new building.
