Established in 1966, La Casa de Esperanza, Inc. (La Casa) is a community-based organization committed to providing opportunities for low-income people to achieve full social and economic participation in society, with an emphasis on the Hispanic population. La Casa helps over 14,000 Waukesha County residents annually through various programs and services. Some of those programs include: -Weatherization Program -La Clinica -La Casa Village Apartments and Senior Center -Infant and preschool early childhood education for first and second shift workers. -Before and after school programs for children and youth -Summer educational programming and career guidance -Employment services and career counseling -Transition assistance to WCTC -Volunteer Income Tax Assistance -Financial Stability program -BadgerCare Plus outreach -Family Self-Sufficiency Program
History:
In 1966, La Casa de Esperanza, Inc., was organized by a group of concerned citizens. Originally known as History Builders, Inc., the agency purchased a house on Ryan Street and from there operated their first major project - a day care program. The name was changed to La Casa de Esperanza, Inc. in 1968, and began offering many more programs, beginning with educational offerings. La Casa has continued to grow with program offerings, partnerships, and initiatives.
