Description:
La Causa’s Crisis Nursery Care Center provides immediate relief to parents in family crisis and/or in need of short-term respite, by providing safe and nurturing care to their children. All participating parents receive crisis management, support, information and referrals as needed. The Center is the only one of its kind in southeastern Wisconsin and the first of only two located in the State. The Crisis Nursery is designed to expand La Causa’s efforts to reduce the incidence of child abuse and neglect in Milwaukee, and help families during times of crisis. The Crisis Nursery program works with families to build on their strengths and prepare them to address long-term goals. The program is voluntary and staff members work with the entire family providing shelter, education, and advocacy and community resources. Children birth - 12 years stay at the center during times of family crisis for a period of up to 3 days, though our state license permits up to one month, while the parent accesses services to stabilize the situation or uses the time for respite (to get a break).
