FAIR TIDE
| Last updated on February 2, 2012 |
The mission of Fair Tide is to provide safe, dignified, affordable housing and support services to formerly homeless, low-income individuals and families. Our goal is to support families in their move toward self-sufficiency.
Description:
Participants accepted into the Fair Tide program reside at the Center for Sustainable Living, located in downtown Kittery, Maine. Center for Sustainable Living residents live for up to two years in one of the five furnished apartments while participating in the programs and services of Fair Tide. Programs include Life Coaching, Life Enrichment Workshops, Resident Association Meetings, and Community Volunteering.
History:
Fair Tide was founded in 1998 by local community members concerned for their neighbors, family, and friends who were homeless or living in temporary or substandard housing. Funds were raised to renovate a run down apartment building in downtown Kittery, and in May of 2002, Fair Tide accepted the first group of participants. In January 2003, the Fair Tide Thrift Store was established to help financially support the Transitional Housing Program. Located at 15 State Road, the store offers a wide range of household goods and clothing at low-cost.
