Cross Plains mission is to support a community where all people have the opportunity of choice,leadership and employment.
Our vision is for people with Special Needs to be given the same opportunities as other people to connect to their community and be contributing citizens. We believe that all people have gifts and talents to offer. At Cross Plains we assist individuals with Special Needs to discover their own unique gifts and how they can use them to be connected contributing members of their community.

Description:
Cross Plains is a nationally accredited organization that provides services and supports to adults with Special Needs. The supports include assistance to find and maintain employment, on the job training and life skills. Other services include supporting people to be active members of their community by supporting them to volunteer and participate in community activities. Facility based services include support in all areas of personal support and activities of daily living. Other activities at the center include art, computers, cooking, music, book clubs, games and other areas of personal interest. We also provide person centered planning for people to discover what is important to them in order for them to have a meaningful day. Cross Plains provides services that ensure people with disabilities,and their families are given the support they need for the person to stay healthy and safe.

History:
Cross Plains was established in 1957 by a group of concerned parents and citizens of Whitfield County. Know then as Cheerhaven the program was developed for children with developmental delays and was later expanded to serve adults. Because all efforts and success relied on partnering with businesses and the general community,Cheerhaven became Cross Plains Community Partner. Currently Cross Plains serves adults with Developmental Disabilities.
