Who We Are
The need for the shelter was recognized in 1978 by the League of Women Voters and the Dalton Junior Women's Club. The doors opened in 1980 at a facility donated by the First baptist Church. The shelter became a United Way agency that year. Betty Higgins was a long time director from 1980, until retiring. Katora Printup is currently director. The crisis center also has outreach programs in Murray and Gordon counties.
