Whitfield County suffered a devasting tragedy in January of this year with the loss of five of our citizens, including three children. This tragedy has had a significant impact on the lives of everyone involved and many are still coping with the ripple effects. No one thinks that something like this will ever happen to them. Therefore, to bring awareness to a very simple thing that our residents can do to save their own lives and those of others, Whitfield County Fire has teamed up with the Red Cross to install free smoke detectors in the area affected by the fire.
Volunteers are needed to help with smoke alarm installation and fire safety education. Training will be provided on the morning of the event.
