United Way BOARDWALK identifies, recruits, and connects volunteers to leadership and policy making positions in nonprofit organizations in the Northwest Georgia area. Leadership positions may include service on boards of directors, committees, or allocation review panels.
Through a one-day training, potential board members explore the inner workings of non-profit boards. Topics covered include: board roles and responsibilities, legal and fiduciary obligations, non-profit marketing, fundraising, finance, and community building. The afternoon session will include an opportunity to visit local agencies. During the training, potential board members have the opportunity to meet representatives from local organizations to find an organization whose needs and mission complement their own skills and interest.
